Common Questions

Before you email us, check here first.

If the answer isn't here, call us, write us, or book a video call. A real person gets back to you within the hour.

How do I set up hearo the first time?

Open the charging case. Pull each aid out. Pick a silicone tip size (Small, Medium, Large are in the box — most people find Medium fits). Push the tip onto the aid. Put it in your ear canal. Press the button once to power on. That's setup. No app, no pairing, no account.

How do I change the volume?

Short-press the button on either aid. Each press cycles through volume levels — you'll hear a soft beep as it changes. Long-press (hold for 3 seconds) to turn hearo on or off. One button, two functions. That's on purpose.

How do I clean my hearo?

Use the included brush every night. Brush the tip and the speaker opening — that's where earwax builds up. Don't use water, alcohol, or wipes. If the silicone tip gets stained or worn, swap it for a fresh one (pack of 6 replacement tips available separately).

What if it whistles?

Whistling (feedback) usually means the ear tip isn't sealing properly. Try three things: (1) push it in a little deeper — it should sit snug; (2) try a larger tip size from the box; (3) check for earwax on the tip or inside your canal. Nine times out of ten, one of those fixes it. If not, send us a message — we'll help you dial it in.

What if it doesn't fit?

The Fit Promise has you covered. 60 days. Full refund. We pay the return shipping. No processing fees. No forms. No questions. But first: try the other tip sizes in the box (S/M/L are all included). Most fit issues are solved by swapping tips. If not, let us know — the refund is one email away.

What if my hearo stops charging?

First try a different USB-C cable. Nine times out of ten that's the issue. If the case still won't charge, wipe the charging contacts inside the case with a dry cotton swab — built-up wax can block contact. If nothing works, email us and we'll replace it under warranty.

How long does the battery last?

Up to approximately 12 hours per charge. The USB-C charging case holds multiple charges and doubles as your storage case. The hearing aids turn on automatically when you take them out of the case, and off when you put them back. Charge overnight, wear all day.

Can I wear hearo in the shower or while swimming?

No. hearo is sweat and light-moisture resistant but not waterproof. Take it out before showering, swimming, or exercising in heavy rain. Leaving it in the charging case overnight is the safest storage.

How do I return hearo within the Fit Promise?

Email us at support@hearo.com with your order number (or use the form here). We send you a prepaid return label within one business day. Drop it at any US mail carrier. As soon as we receive the package, we issue a full refund to your original payment method. No processing fees. No restocking fees. No forms. You have 60 days from the delivery date.

What's the warranty?

One year on the hearing aid itself, two years if you bought the Premium Bundle. Covers manufacturing defects, charging issues, and anything that's clearly not user damage. Email support with a photo and your order number — we'll send a replacement.

My order hasn't arrived yet. What do I do?

Orders placed before 2 PM ET on weekdays ship the same day via USPS Priority Mail. Delivery is usually 3–5 business days. If it's been longer, email us with your order number — we'll track it down or ship a replacement if it's genuinely lost.

Is hearo covered by HSA or FSA?

In most cases, yes. hearo is generally eligible as a qualified medical expense under most HSA and FSA plans. Save your receipt — we email it to you with your order confirmation. Plan rules vary, so check with your plan administrator if you're unsure.

Do I need a prescription or an audiologist?

No. hearo is an OTC (Over-The-Counter) hearing aid, available to adults 18+ with signs of mild to moderate hearing loss. You don't need a prescription, a hearing test, or an audiologist visit to buy or use it.

What if my hearing loss is worse than mild to moderate?

This hearing aid is for adults with signs of mild to moderate hearing loss. If your hearing loss is severe, or if you've experienced sudden changes in your hearing, please see a hearing healthcare professional. hearo is not a replacement for a professional hearing exam.
